CoDE welcomes new research fellow
CoDE is pleased to welcome new Research Fellow Frauke Behrendt, who strengthens our expertise in cross-disciplinary digital culture research. Frauke's research specialises in mobile media, analysing how mobile phones are converging media production and consumption practices in one ubiquitous device. Her research interests also include the areas of sound studies, popular music and media, as well as media histories. Her PhD research, at the University of Sussex, was an empirical and theoretical investigation of the link between mobility, sound and media and how this is articulated in both contemporary art and everyday life.
Frauke is on the Steering Committee of the European COST Action on 'Sonic Interaction Design' and also the International Workshop of Mobile Music Technology. In addition, she is a member of NYLON (the International Research Network in sociology, history and cultural studies, organised by Professor Richard Sennett), and the 'Centre for Material Digital Culture' at Sussex. She has presented and published her research widely and is frequently invited to talk at international conferences.
She has also held positions as Visiting Assistant Professor at the Rhode Island School of Design (US) and taught at the University of Sussex.
