Creating and Performing Musical Media Unconference

A one-day UNCONFERENCE hosted by the Digital Performance Laboratory at Anglia Ruskin University for practitioners and theorists, concluding with an evening concert.

This study day at the Department of Music and Performing Arts, Anglia Ruskin University, focused on the creative process of making musical multi-media: music and sound for Video, Film, TV, Games and any kind of multimedia artifact the design of which is led by musical thought.

Organised by Dr Julio d'Escriván from Anglia Ruskin's Digital Performance Laboratory and Professor Monty Adkins from CeReNem, University of Huddersfield, with the workshop and performance participation of Australian Audiovisual Duo Nicole Canham & Sarah Kaur, Iñigo Ibaibarriaga from KLEM-Bilbao(Spain) and Carlos Lopez Charles (University of Paris VIII / Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes, Mexico).

Speakers (in alphabetical order of surnames):

  • Nicole Canham, University of Queensland, Australia, will talk about her work with visual artist Sarah Kaur
  • Julio d'Escriván from Anglia Ruskin University, Digital Performance Laboratory,
  • Tom Hall, Anglia Ruskin University, will talk about his visual clock-score for algorithmic audiovisual performance
  • Sarah Kaur, Independent videographer, photographer and installation artist (will present with Nicole Canham)
  • Carlos López Charles, University of Paris VIII / Fondo Nacional de México para la Cultura y las Artes, will talk about his audiovisual performance system driven by MaxMSP
  • Ben Neill from Ramapo College, NJ, USA. will discuss technical and aesthetic issues of his practice as an audiovisual performer
  • Jeremy Radvan, University of Brighton, will speak as an audiovisual performer from the point of view of animation
  • Charlie Williams, Clare College, University of Cambridge, will talk about his interactive sound related work and audio driven-games

Following the one day unconference, the papers will be edited and made available through the Digital Performance Laboratory webpage.
