Profile

John is a PHD researcher with CEDAR. He holds a BA (Hons) in Business Management and Law and MBA from Anglia Ruskin University. His research interests are in international enterprise development, entrepreneurship and economic development through private sector promotion. His current research explores the systemic barriers to internationalisation of SMEs in developing economies with a specific focus on South Africa.

John commenced his professional career in the retailing industry in Africa responsible for business development in a multinational company. Prior to relocating to the UK, John had established two successful business providing transport logistics between South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Democratic Republic of Congo. John has undertaken several business development roles in private and public sector organisations including a period with Cambridgeshire County Council before starting his own consumer credit company.

Tapping into his vast network, knowledge, experience and understanding of the Southern African market, John provides consultancy services in international business development and market entry intelligence to UK and Southern African organisations. John is a member of the Consumer Credit Association (CCA), the Institute for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (ISBE) and an active board member for several organisations in UK and Southern Africa.
