Prestigious RUITS visiting professorship at Düsseldorf University
Professor of Postcolonial Studies Guido Rings has been awarded a prestigious visiting professorship by the German Academic Exchange Office (DAAD) to join Düsseldorf University, Germany, in its delivery of a new, highly interdisciplinary programme of Hispanic Studies, and the development of an international Research Centre in Mexican Studies.
Following this award, Professor Rings has started to give lectures in Düsseldorf on a wide range of topics, including the Spanish Conquest in contemporary Hispanic novels, cinema and theatre, images of Mexico in the novel of the Mexican Revolution, and identity and otherness in Spanish cinema about migration.
There are also plans for the launch of a new internet journal "Interdisciplinary Mexico" that could enhance specialist research from RUITS and the Düsseldorf Research Centre in Mexican Studies. Key scholars from Mexico, Germany and the UK have already expressed their support for this project and continue to collaborate in its development.
