About us

3rd Sector Futures is based in the Lord Ashcroft International Business School at Anglia Ruskin University in Chelmsford. We bring together academics and practitioners from this increasingly important sector of the UK's economy.

The third sector includes charities, social enterprises, co-operatives, and voluntary & community organisations. Our activity with the sector includes:

Training delivery to social enterprises, charities and voluntary sector organisations across the East of England. This encompasses specialist short courses as well as mainstream undergraduate/postgraduate qualifications.

Research into the third sector, most recently a mapping of social enterprise activity in Essex.

Consultancy, including business advice to third sector organisations by our two SFEDI accredited business advisers and Social Return on Investment analysis by our SROI expert.

Our approach is one of strategic partnership with other organisations, chiefly from within the third sector itself, who share our goals: making positive contribution to management practice, and increasing the wider understanding of the sector and its impact. Where possible we endeavour to access funding to deliver the above services for local third sector organisations.
