Ethics at Anglia Ruskin University

Anglia Ruskin's research ethics policy and procedures are determined by the Research Ethics Sub Committee (RESC), which is comprised of representatives from all faculties and lay members.

After reading the RESC Guidance document(s), please complete the ethics review checklist and, if you have ticked 'yes' for any of the categories, please complete an application form. Please submit the form to the secretary of the Faculty Research Ethics Panel, Sue Short - MAR 325, Chelmsford, or email fst-ethics@anglia.ac.uk

Full information on applying for ethics approval and the appropriate forms can be downloaded from the RDCS webpage.

If your research involves animals, you should complete the following checklist:

How to encrypt your computer files

The storage of personal data that can identify an individual must comply with the Data Protection Act. If such data is to be stored on a computer the FREP guidance is that a) access to the computer should be password protected, and b) any relevant files must be encrypted where appropriate. Guidance on how to encrypt your files is given in the FREP document 'How to encrypt your computer files'.

Faculty Research Ethics Panel

The Faculty Research Ethics Panel usually meets on a bi-monthly basis to consider and will only consider those applications that will not be considered by UREC.

If you would like any advice on completing the ethics application forms, please contact a FREP member in your department.

All ethics applications must be accompanied by the following forms:
  • Ethics checklist
  • Participant consent form
  • Participant information sheet
and must be signed by the applicant and the person supervising the research, if appropriate. Please check the RDCS website for the latest versions of these forms.
