Dan's patron role for disability sport
An Anglia Ruskin University academic, who represented Great Britain at the Paralympic Games, has been named the first patron of the Ability Plus Group.
Dr Dan Gordon, who is Course Leader for Sports Science, will be working to support the Ability Plus Group, part of the Living Sport charity, to promote sport and physical activity for people with disabilities across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
Dr Gordon, who represented Great Britain in track cycling at the 2004 Paralympics in Athens, was a Living Sport ambassador last year and was involved in bringing the English Paralympic Flame to Cambridgeshire ahead of the London Games.

Dan said:
"I am truly honoured to be appointed as the Patron of the Ability Plus group. The group do tremendous work in promoting sport and physical activity for people with a disability. I hope that we can continue to build on these foundations and maximise the impact from London 2012."
As patron, Dr Gordon will attend events across the county to promote the Ability Plus Group and explain the benefits that sport and physical activity can have for people with disabilities.
