Globetrotting Vision and Hearing Sciences Lecturer visits America and Sweden

Rupal Lovell-Patel, Programme Leader for Optometry and Optical Management within our Department of Vision and Hearing Sciences, has recently visited America and Sweden to present her latest research and deliver a guest lecture.

In October, Rupal attended the American Academy of Optometry meeting in Boston and presented a well-received poster on her research into the effects of colour filter therapy on the rate of reading. The meeting is one of the largest for Optometric research and education in the world and was attended by over 5,000 optometrists and researchers over 4 days.

Then later on in October, Rupal was invited to Linne University in Kalmar, Sweden to give a guest lecture to final year optometry students on assessing and treating patients suffering from visual stress. Rupal was invited to Sweden by former Anglia PhD Student Dr Baskar Theagarayan, who now lectures on the Optometry course at Linne. Following teaching, Rupal was also asked to present her research to staff in the university's Faculty of Health Sciences.

Speaking of her recent trips Rupal commented "These trips were a wonderful opportunities to network and develop research collaborations. I have come back with ideas on optometric education as well as research projects."
