European Academy of Optometry and Optics meeting in Dublin
Our Department of Vision and Hearing Sciences and the Vision and Eye Research Unit were well represented at the recent Dublin meeting of the European Academy of Optometry and Optics.
The meeting, which was held from the 20 - 22 April, brought together key decision-makers, influencers, educators, researchers and students from across Europe to discuss and share the latest research and best practice related to vision sciences. Proceedings for the event were focused around the themes of education, research and clinical practice.
Dr Keziah Latham and Dr Sheila Rae both presented talks at the meeting, Kez's talk was entitled "Factors associated with adjustment to visual loss" whilst Sheila's talk addressed "Accommodative accuracy with printed text vs. hand-held computer gaming".
In addition to the talks, a number of research posters from VERU and Vision and Hearing Sciences were presented to delegates:
Robert Conway presented "Variation in visual acuity measurement at different viewing distances: a comparison of results with 2 different chart designs". Sarah Lalor presented "Where should bars be to produce optimal crowding effects using children's acuity letters, pictures and symbols?" and Dr Sheila Rae presented "Assessing visual acuities at near with letter and symbol charts: effect of chart type and defocus".
