Constructing the human brain proves child's play!

Dr Sarah Kuppen from our Department of Psychology recently paid a visit to a local primary school to spread the word about the human brain to pupils.

Sarah visited the Spinney Primary School in South Cambridge as part of this years' Cambridge Science Festival Schools Roadshow, a programme that offers pupils from all key stages at Cambridgeshire schools the chance to find out more about the exciting world of science.

On the day Sarah joined a very enthusiastic year 2 class to disassemble a model brain and learn about individual functions and how the pieces all fit together. Sarah and the children had lots of messy fun creating individual model brains, which showed the location of the different cerebral lobes. The pupils were given their "brains" to take home as mementos of the day, along with diagrams of the lobes and their functions.

Speaking of her visit Sarah commented, "We had so much fun and the children learned a lot too, a great day was had by all".
