The Great FST Bake Off

Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood had some competition last week when the Faculty of Science & Technology's Chelmsford Admin Office hosted their own version of The Great British Bake Off, all in the name of Comic Relief.

Individuals from the team baked both sweet and savoury treats, including pastries, cakes, biscuits and tarts. Colleagues came from across the faculty to donate money and test out the entries, raising almost £70 in the process.

Les James, Faculty Business and Resources Manager, and Pauline Start, Director of Studies, had the difficult job of tasting each entry and deciding on a worthy winner. After tough consideration, Sue Short, Research Administrator, won the battle with her carrot cake and was crowned Star Baker.

The judges said:

"We were delighted to be chosen to be the judges this year, sampling all the wonderful cakes and for such a good cause, too. The standard of the baking was very high and we are very grateful to all those who took part. We are both happy to volunteer to be 'tasters' again next year!"

Sue said:

"It was great to join in with Comic Relief and very unexpected to win - there's some very special bakers in the office - so I'm thrilled."
