Great News for International Students in Optometry!

The College of Optometrists has recently announced that they will sponsor students during their pre-registration year under the UK government's Tier 5 visa Scheme.

Under the scheme, all international (non-EEA) Optometry students studying at Anglia Ruskin University and meeting the requirements of the General Optical Council (at least a 2:2 Classification in their Optometry degree) will be eligible to remain in the United Kingdom whilst completing their pre-registration year, which takes place after completion of the Optometry Degree.
Dr John Siderov, Head of Department of Vision and Hearing Sciences stated, "This is terrific and welcome news for Optometry and for our international students. Optometry graduates from Anglia Ruskin University can now complete their pre-registration year in the UK under the Tier 5 sponsorship offered by the College of Optometrists and go on to register with the General Optical Council."
