Field trip to visit leading zoos in the Netherlands

Final year students taking the module "Behaviour and Management of Zoo Animals" are offered an optional field trip, in June, to visit four of the leading zoos in the Netherlands; Rotterdam, Amersfoort, Apenheul Primate Park and Arnhem Burgers' Zoo.

This four-day field trip takes place after the end of the summer exams period. Travel is by minibus from Cambridge via the overnight Stena Line ferry from Harwich to the Hook of Holland. Accommodation in the Netherlands is at the very comfortable Apeldoorn StayOkay Youth Hostel, which has attractive wooded grounds (and a bar and small beer garden!). The cost of this trip is currently (2010) around £320 per student. This price includes all travel and accommodation, zoo admissions and most meals.
