Personal Profile / Teaching Experience
Michael Coffey is Deputy Head and Director of Postgraduate Studies, and is responsible for developing and managing the Postgraduate Portfolio. He also leads the MSc courses in Construction Management, Project Management and Construction Project Management.Previously he taught at the University of Greenwich and at universities in a number of countries around the world, including Hong Kong and Singapore. After graduating, he worked as a quantity surveyor, commercial manager and project manager, in both professional and contracting organisations in Canada, Singapore and the UK. He also practices as an independent construction consultant and provider of corporate training programmes.
His teaching covers a broad range of construction and project management, including management, construction management, project management, operations and supply chain management.
He also supervises PhD and PrD research students.
Research Interests
Michael's research interests cover a broad range of topics in the management of construction and the management of people in construction, especially empowerment, motivation and industrial relations.He also researches in the areas of construction management with particular interest in organisation and systems, supply chain management, knowledge management, intellectual capital and knowledge capture.
