Our Department of Engineering and the Built Environment is large and multidisciplinary, including in-depth expertise in architecture, civil engineering, construction, historic building conservation, housing, mechanical engineering, planning, project management and surveying.

We deliver a wide ranging portfolio of Built Environment and Planning courses in Chelmsford and Cambridge and a wide range of other locations all complementing our degree, postgraduate and other courses, and building on our areas of excellence and outstanding research.

Over the past 10 years, we have delivered over 200 highly regarded planning, sustainable construction and built environment CPD training events.


Our brand new Built Environment Professional Development CPD series extends that quality delivery to construction managers, chartered surveyors, architects and others including building conservation staff, expanding the range and quality of our short courses.

We are here to deliver the training people need most, and deliver consistently high quality and value for money short courses. In our recent CPD survey, 88% of delegates rated our skills training as good or excellent, and 97% would recommend them to colleagues.
