Control of Renewable Integrated Systems Targeting Advanced Landmarks (CRISTAL)

CRISTAL was a Coordination Action funded by the European Union under the 6th Research Framework Programme. It started in December 2007 and was completed in 2009.

The project aimed to contribute to the integration and strengthening of European research on Renewable Energy Sources. The technical issues coordinated were concerned with solar, wind and micro-hydro systems control in conjunction with compensatory energy storage systems (fuel cells, hydrogen, batteries) and associated power converters and their integrated control in conjunction with the grid. The exchange of expertise was achieved through study visits and meetings, and open access events were organised to raise public awareness on sustainability and renewable energy. A final report at the end of the project brought together knowledge gained and was disseminated through publications, conferences and websites.
