The department also has two Employers Advisory Groups (EAG) - one per campus - which are intended to provide a mutually beneficial link between the department and local employers.
The role of the EAGs is:
- For employers to advise the university on the skills and knowledge they expect graduate employees to have achieved
- For employers to comment on the academic content of modules or courses
- For the university to develop new courses to meet employer needs
- To identify collaborative opportunities between employers and the university through KTPs, consultation or research projects
- To identify potential final year student project opportunities based in industry, focused on helping to solve a company problem
- Mutual general professional support.
The EAG meets formally twice a year on the Cambridge and Chelmsford campus. Members can attend meetings on either campus. Although the agenda covers the basic remit of the group, it is varied depending on new developments and current events. Other relevant information is also circulated to the group informally during the year.
