Planning Education, Professional Development and Practice
Convenor: Ann Hockey, Department of the Built Environment, Anglia Ruskin University
New technologies, teaching methods, and alignments of disciplines and professions offer exciting opportunities to make planning education, and education in the related areas of sustainability and built environment, increasingly realistic and relevant to students and professionals alike. At the same time, challenges exist in the form of broadening content, institutional restructuring, and the social, cultural and political contexts within which planning and planning education operate.
This track will look at the latest research into planning education both in higher education institutions and the workplace, incorporating examples of recent initiatives. There will be sessions dedicated to professional doctorates, the Spatial Literacy in Teaching (SPLINT) project, and the future of the planning academy.
Papers exploring these and related issues are invited.
