Student Update re: NMC Visit
Following an in depth review by the NMC in December 2012 - a regular event for Nurse Education - we are delighted to confirm that we have received very positive feedback relating to the standards of Pre Registration Nursing within the University in partnership with NHS Trusts.
This is good news for students and good news for the University and our partners in NHS Trusts. Thanks to all of you who met the NMC reviewers - they were impressed with your enthusiastic and honest accounts of your practice experience.
In 4 out of 5 of the categories reviewed we gained a judgement of 'good' and in the fifth an 'Outstanding' for preparation for practice.
We are already addressing the NMCs suggestions for ensuring the mentor registers reflect changes in practice such as the reorganisation and renaming of wards and community teams to ensure our mentor registers and placement information is absolutely up to date. Improved information about your placements will be provided for you in an updated placement brochure already being developed.

We were commended for many of our practices - here is a sample of comments below:
The Nursing and Midwifery Council were impressed by the way service users are participating in Adult Nursing course delivery and in evaluation of students' practice.
Reviewers liked the positive external examiner comments on assessments in Child Nursing where they found that written work had a high relevance to practice.
Teaching from Mental Health academic staff was particularly noticed as high quality. In practice areas the Mental Health team was complimented for their good work within Trusts contributing to great support for students.
Reviewers praised the achievements of the students completing Non Medical Prescribing as managers in Trusts identified a real improvement in patient care as an outcome of the NMP programme.
Education Champions and many others have helped develop partnerships between University and Trusts so that student support in practice is an outstanding feature of Anglia Ruskin courses.
