The Faculty of Health, Social Care & Education has actively sought to include service users/patients and their carers as 'volunteers' in the preparation of health and social care professionals.

For the last 8 years adult nursing students have benefited from this involvement and feedback from our many volunteers when practising their clinical skills. Mental Health and Learning Disability also have a long history of service user involvement with students across their health care programmes. The child branch of nursing has recently been involved in service users developments in the care of children and young people. Within the Midwifery programme service users currently contribute towards the evaluation of student midwives' capabilities in practice. Collaboration across the faculty also involves service users and carers in our Allied Health programmes and Social Work.
