BSc (Hons) Mental Health Nursing

What initially attracted you to your course?
It is something I had contemplated doing for some time. My wife is also a nurse, although she is adult branch, rather than mental health. I was looking for something more rewarding and fulfilling than design engineering, which I had been doing for the past 20 years.

Has the course met/exceeded your expectations? If so, how?
To be honest I didn't know what to expect, it was so far out of my field of experience. However, I can honestly say I have enjoyed every minute.

Why would you recommend your course to others?

Yes, I would. It is a life changing experience bar-none. It is personally rewarding on many levels. As well as learning academically, I have learned so much about people, and about myself.

Please tell us about any special features that you have benefited from on your course.

The main benefit I have gained is personal confidence. Lessons such as essential life support give you the confidence to face any situation knowing you can help.

What are your ambitions/plans for the future, and how do you feel that your course will help you to achieve these?
The course is essential to realise my ambition to be a qualified nurse in the area of Early Intervention in Psychosis.

How do you rate the support offered by both our teaching and support staff?

The support from the teaching staff has been excellent. My IBL tutor has been helpful above & beyond. I have accessed support services on a few occasions, and each time they have bent over backwards to help.

How do you find fitting you studies around your outside commitments including work, family etc?
Sometimes it is difficult to fit in family life around placement and studies & compromises will have to be made. However, being focussed on the end result, that is being a qualified nurse makes it worthwhile. Realistically though, it can be tough going at times, so you have to be focussed and committed.

How would you sum up your experience of studying at Anglia Ruskin course so far?

I have learned so much since I started the course & I have grown as a person that I hardly recognise myself at times ...and I have loved it all.
