I chose Anglia Ruskin mainly because their facilities and support were a lot better than Ipswich, along with a track proven reputation.

Which aspects of your course do you enjoy most and why?
The course is enjoyable on so many levels. From the classroom study, where I am finding it very interesting, to placement, where the interaction with people is very varied and personally rewarding.

Why did you chose mental health nursing?
Like many others, I became interested in nursing as a career after being cared for by nurses myself; I suffered from Guillain-Barré syndrome in my teens, and spent many months in hospital. After my recovery, I felt a sense of wanting to give something back, so I researched the options. Mental health nursing stood out as a branch of nursing which would most satisfy my interest in people's thoughts, feelings and behaviours.

What initially attracted you to your course?
It was a course which combined intellectual stimulation with being people focused and practical. I also wanted to gain a qualification which would form the basis for a satisfying and interesting career.

Which aspects of your course do you enjoy most and why?
The course is varied which I enjoy - most of the lectures are interesting and thought provoking, I enjoy discussing topics within my Inquiry Based Learning (IBL) group and I particularly enjoy being on placement when I can get involved and put the theory in to practice.
