Kate Sanders

BSc (Hons) Clinical Physiology

Why did you choose to study at Anglia Ruskin University?
Because it was local to home and work.

What initially attracted you to your course?
It was an opportunity to develop a job role in heath care that was both academic and scientific, as well as still including working with patients.

Which aspects of your course do you enjoy most and why?

I enjoy the Speciality Cardiology blocks the most. It's good to have lecturers who actually do our job and can relate our study to our work easily.

Has the course met/exceeded your expectations? If so, how?
Yes, it provides the building blocks for our work based training.

Please tell us about any special features that you have benefited from on your course

This is a vocational course so I am an employee who is seconded to study. I think this is absolutely the best way to learn how to do a job and get the qualifications needed to do it all at the same time!

Has your course involved any work placements? If so how were these useful?

I have done placements on different wards and at other hospitals to my workplace - these placements are invaluable in understanding the wider remit of Cardiology.

What are your ambitions/plans for the future, and how do you feel that your course will help you to achieve these?
When I graduate I will be fully qualified Cardiac Physiologist - I'd like to continue in that job role and progress as far as I can!

How do you find fitting you studies around your outside commitments including work, family etc?

Sometimes a challenge but work are very supportive so I'm lucky.

Good so far - one year down, three to go!
