Julian Keith Case Study

Julian Keith

BA Learning, Technology and Research

Why did you choose to study at Anglia Ruskin University?
It was recommended by a colleague who had completed the same degree.

What initially attracted you to your course?
Several factors attracted me to the degree: its content, the remote study mode and the length of study.

Which aspects of your course do you enjoy most and why?
Online discussions as they allowed me to explore and express my ideas in a supportive yet stretching environment.

Has the course met/exceeded your expectations? If so, how?
Exceeded because I had not anticipated the depth of self study and realisation that evolved. I have recommended the course to others.

How do you feel that your studies at Anglia Ruskin will help you in your current job?

As a teacher I am constantly called upon to evaluate my practice through rigorous reflection. The extensive use of Action Research throughout the degree has shaped me into a intuitively reflective practitioner. This has and will continue to pay dividends in my quest for excellence in the classroom.

Are you currently employed? If so what is your job title?

I am a teacher.

What are your ambitions/plans for the future, and how do you feel that your course will help you to achieve these?
As part of the final modules of study we were required to consider and map out a desired career path. At present I have been able to follow this to the letter.

How do you rate the support offered by both our teaching and support staff?
Excellent and appropriate.

How would you sum up your experience of studying at Anglia Ruskin course so far?
I have thoroughly enjoyed the journey that I have been on and I feel that a lot of that stemmed from the energy and enthusiasm that was injected by the course tutors, facilitators and administrators. Overall I feel as if I have been a part of something exciting and dynamic and hope that you continue to offer this degree to others who are unable to physically attend University due to work or other commitments as it is a truly rewarding experience thanks to an excellent team of professionals.

BA LTR has opened up a spirit of inquiry within the cohort and made individuals challenge their use of technology. It is curiosity and a willingness to experiment that will lead to change. If teachers do not experiment with (or try and work with) technology, then they will never ever get close to being in a position to grasp its fitness for purpose and therefore the potential to add value to learning using technology in and outside the classroom.
