Eleanor Dexter

Why did you choose to study at Anglia Ruskin University?
It had a good reputation, and to be able to train at Addenbrookes was appealing.

What initially attracted you to your course?

I had previously worked in care home and hospitals as nursing assistants and enjoyed the work so thought I would take it further.

Which aspects of your course do you enjoy most and why?
I love placement, as it's a chance to help people, utilise knowledge and skills learnt at uni and develop into the nurse I aspire to be.

Has the course met/exceeded your expectations? If so, how?
It has met my expectations so far by having the appropriate lectures and skills lessons to increase confidence and placements have been fantastic.

Why would you recommend your course to others?
I would recommend it to others as placements are at leading hospitals such as Addenbrookes and Papworth offer the opportunity to gain a lot of knowledge from specialist hospitals. The campus has brilliant skills labs and helpful staff.

What are your ambitions/plans for the future, and how do you feel that your course will help you to achieve these?
I am hoping to work in the critical care setting then to become a specialist in this area, maybe working for the critical outreach team. Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) are developing my career and teaching me the skills and knowledge I need to practice as a nurse.

How do you rate the support offered by both our teaching and support staff?

Staff on a whole have been extremely helpful, especially Gabriel Letch (student adviser) he has always been helpful and if he is unsure of the answer he will find someone that will be able to help.

How do you rate our facilities and resources on offer at our campuses?

I love the location of the campus as it peaceful, the facilities are good, the library has a good selection of books/journals/online recourses, and the skills labs are very well equipped.

How do you find fitting you studies around your outside commitments including work, family etc?

I have found it fairly easy to fit my studies around my social life in my first and second years however the workload has naturally increased with the third year increasing the pressure, however with good time management its still bearable!

How would you sum up your experience of studying at Anglia Ruskin course so far?
I have found the overall experience good and feel I have learnt the necessary knowledge and skills to become a practicing nurse.
