BSc (Hons) Palliative Care
“Why did you choose to study at Anglia Ruskin University?
Anglia Ruskin University offered the appropriate course. It provided me with the opportunity to study locally and consolidate my clinical experience.
Which aspects of your course do you enjoy most and why?
I enjoyed the lively debates and stimulating, thought-provoking lectures.
Why would you recommend your course to others?
The course provided with the opportunity to explore new areas in my clinical practice which I hoped it would do. I would recommend the course as it offers an both excellent foundation in palliative care and the opportunity to extend and develop new areas of learning. The course has equipped me with current learning and an enquiring mind.
Are you currently employed, if so what is your job title?
During my period of study I worked as the Triage Nurse in an adult palliative care unit. I am now the Clinical Team Leader for The J's Hospice, a innovative palliative care service for 16-40 year olds.
What are your ambitions/plans for the future, and how do you feel that your course will help you to achieve these?
I will be continuing to develop this pioneering service and offer high quality palliative care to my patients and effective leadership to the team.
How do you rate the support offered by both our teaching and support staff?
St Helena Hospice is a great place to study, the tutors are engaged with their subjects, able to challenge and motivate their students. The support staff are friendly, willing to help and provide excellent service. The library is well run and has an excellent range of appropriate learning resources
How do you find fitting you studies around your outside commitments including work, family etc?
Studying whilst working full-time, caring for a family member and moving house was a challenge, but achievable!
Any further comments about your experience at Anglia Ruskin University?
I really enjoyed my graduation ceremony; it was a great ending to a period of study that was hard work but very rewarding. It was a great achievement for me to attain my degree and I'm really pleased with it!
