Student to represent England
Rachel Adcock (BSc Clinical Physiology) a 1st year student from FHSC has been to asked to represent England at a ski competition in January. The ski competition is one of the oldest ski races in the world and with only seven Britons being chosen it is a real honour for Rachel to be selected.
The competition is called the Anglo Swiss Race. The race has run since 1925 (with a break during WWII) making it the oldest team race in alpine skiing. It is taking place in January 2011 in the Swiss resort of St. Moritz. The team is made up of seven British skiers who compete against seven Swiss skiers (currently the overall competition score stands at Switzerland 49 - Britain 28 so hopefully Rachel can help to close the gap). Quite different to any other ski race there is a strict dress code of club jumper, shirt and tie during the racing and a fantastic black tie medal ceremony to end the week.

I am really honoured to be attending this event for the second time. I was a member of the England Ski Team from 2003 to 2008, but since then I have switched to organising the events instead of competing - so it's good to know that these opportunities are still available!
