Student nurses walk to fund charity placement

Three student nurses have trekked 20 miles to raise money for one of them to take part in a work placement in India.

Paula Somes was joined by fellow student nurses, Louise Milward and Ashley Newport, during the walk from Anglia Ruskin University in Chelmsford to Stansted Airport. The walk was completed in just over seven hours and the students hope to raise £350.

"During the third and final year of our degree, we have to organise a placement in an area that is of particular interest to us.

I thought that a visit to India would give a different insight into nursing because hospitals there deal with conditions that we see very little of - if at all - in this country, such as TB, tropical diseases and leprosy."

Paula said that the response to her fund raising efforts had been fantastic and she was keen to thank everyone who had supported her and her fellow students.
