Dawn Chapman, nurse consultant at Addenbrookes' Hospital, has been made an MBE for services to breast cancer health care. She has worked at the hospital since the 1960s and is based in the breast unit where she leads clinics and co-ordinates patient care.

Dawn who was among the first nurse consultants appointed at Addenbrookes in 2006 has been heavily involved in a new training Programme at Anglia Ruskin University's Faculty of Health and Social Care in Cambridge. The advanced clinical practice course in breast care attracts hundreds of students from across the country.

Dawn Chapman heard the news of the honour while on holiday in Norfolk. She said:

"I'm stunned. It's unbelievable news and just not the sort of thing I ever expected to happen to me. It's also good news for the hospital.

I'm very pro-Addenbrooke's as I've been here since 1967 - it's like a second home to me. I believe the breast unit is among the best in the country and I think this honour helps raise the profile even further."
