Charity skydive in aid of the Helen Rollason Heal Cancer Charity

A community fundraiser who works for the Helen Rollason Heal Cancer Charity is going beyond her job description and taking to the sky in her latest venture to raise money for the charity in its 10th anniversary.

Anne Brown is normally found organising events and making contacts within the community but she has decided to take it one step further by jumping out of a plane for the charity.

"I decided to do the plane jump after my brother died of cancer at the age of 50.

I just feel compelled to do this along with my son, daughter and other friends and try to get across that family and friends often feel helpless to do anything when a loved one is suffering with cancer. This is something you can do along with many other fundraising activities.

I like knowing the money I'm raising will go back into research. That can only be a good thing."

The Helen Rollason Heal Cancer Charity treats patients with all types and stages of cancer at its two centres: Springfield, Chelmsford, Essex and North Middlesex Hospital, Edmonton.

The charity also has a research laboratory at Anglia Ruskin University which is undertaking world-class research into a new potential biomarker and investigating whether we can predict responses to chemotherapy.

Manager Nicola Douglas from the Helen Rollason Heal Cancer Charity said:

"We are all really proud of Anne for taking part in such a daring challenge. Her determination to do the jump is inspiring and everyone within the charity wishes her the best of luck."

The sky dive is on Saturday May 30 at Maidstone in Kent. For an information pack call Anne Brown on 01245 514535.
