Biomarkers uncovered by Essex Team

Researchers from Essex have uncovered a panel of protein biomarkers that could lead to better diagnosis of tumour types and improved treatment for cancer sufferers.

Dr Louise Alldridge of the Allied Health & Interprofessional Learning Department of the Faculty of Health and Social Care has been working with Dr Metodi Metodiev of the University of Essex Proteomics Unit. Together they have examined thousands of proteins in tumour and normal human tissue.

They are narrowing down the findings to see what patterns emerge before a large scale clinical trial can be attempted.
