Senior Lecturer

It was a really enjoyable experience working with the publishers and my co-author, particularly as I knew that the book was filling a niche in the market.

It was also very timely in that there have been many recent important changes to independent prescribing for nurses and pharmacists and these were able to be included in the book so it is completely up to date.

This means that it is not only useful for current students but also for previous students who are already qualified and who need to keep themselves updated in this dynamic area of practice.

This book covers the main topics from non-medical prescribing modules that appear in the exam, including some pharmacology and calculations but also the legal, procedural and practical aspects of the prescribing role that are assessed on the course, including: drug safety, consultation skills, adverse drug reactions, concordance, using the BNF and special care groups such as children, pregnant women and mental health clients.

Each chapter includes different question types including: True or False, Multiple Choice, Fill in the Blank questions. The answers give the theory and evidence behind them and ensure that the students understand the topics clearly.

Thus far the book has received positive reviews on Amazon with one rating scoring it 5 out of 5 and labelling it a must have for all non-medical prescribing students and not just nurses.

The review goes onto lavish more praise on the book and includes the following comment;
As a senior lecturer on Non-Medical Prescribing and Advanced Non-Medical Prescribing courses for over 7 years, I would highly recommend this book and I have asked for it to be put on our essential reading list for our courses as I am aware that students cannot get enough practice at these type of questions.

This is an excellent book. A 'must have book' for all undertaking the course, and those already qualified
