Outline of career
I originally trained as a nurse, practiced as a community nurse for 4 years followed by 5 years in senior management for a Cambridge based NHS Trust. I worked to bring about several local changes to children and adult learning disability health services, most of which still exist today. The most significant was accommodating the need for strategic change in service provision and delivery following philosophical and socio-political advancements. I moved in to higher education in 1998/99, initially employed as a senior lecturer but transferring to an acting of head dept for a period of 3 years prior to organisational integration with Anglia Ruskin University.I currently oversee and contribute to modules which sit within undergraduate nursing and post graduate pathways. I also coordinate the regulatory requirements for mentor updates across Cambridgeshire.
My external work includes external examiner for Glasgow Caledonia University and University of Chester. I also act as an NMC reviewer.
