Outline of career

Dr Stewart Piper is a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Health, Social Care & Education at Anglia Ruskin University, UK, where he lectures primarily on health promotion and the principles of research. His academic role includes lecturing on various undergraduate, MSc and Doctoral research modules and supervising major projects, dissertations and PhD research. He is the author of the textbook 'Health promotion for nurses: Theory and practice' (Routledge 2009), has published a number of articles and book chapters and presented at various national and international conferences on health promotion in nursing. The latter also formed the focus of his PhD studies which he successfully completed at Anglia Ruskin University in 2004.

Prior to entering higher education Stewart was a Health Promotion Specialist with an emphasis on HIV/AIDS work and before this he was an Accident & Emergency nurse. His last clinical post was at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge UK where he worked in the Accident Department as a Charge Nurse.


Research Interest

Scholarly and research interests are the relationship between health promotion theory and nursing practice and empowerment.
