Outline of Career
Sharon trained as a Registered General Nurse and worked mainly in surgical nursing before undertaking her Registered Midwifery Training. She worked as a Team Midwife for a number of years and continues to work locally as a practicing midwifeSharon has worked in Midwifery Education for the last 15 years. Since 2007 she has been the Director of Continuing Professional Development for the Faculty of Health Social Care & Education. As a Senior Lecturer in Midwifery she has responsibility for teaching on the Examination of the Newborn Module.
Research Interests
Continuing Professional Development- impact of CPD on service provision. Midwifery specific; post-registration midwifery- examination of the newborn.Integration of examination of the newborn into pre-registration curriculum. Breastfeeding. Health education and promotion in midwifery.Research Projects
