Outline of career

I qualified as a Social Worker in 1994, worked in the areas of learning disability, childcare, physical disability, older people. I then specialised in Mental Health 11 years ago, and became an Approved Social Worker in 2002. I have worked as an Adult Protection Lead, and been a practice teacher. I have been a Senior Social Worker for over 7 years and managed the Crisis Team for a while. More recently I began to do some part time work for Anglia Ruskin University whilst continuing to work in the Crisis Team at Fulbourn Hospital. I then joined Anglia Ruskin permanently in January 2011.

Research Interest

I am interested in Child Protection and Mental Health and the development of a more generic role in Social Work. I am interested in the future role of the SW in Mental Health Services, and considering what is distinct about this role. I am also interested in Adult Protection and how effective Safeguarding Policy, legislation and Practices are.
