Outline of career

I first started working with people with a learning disability in 1977, firstly in a private residential home and then in a state run institution. I qualified as a learning disability nurse in 1999 at what was then APU. On qualifying, I initially returned to the institution before gaining a job as a community nurse. I qualified as a Community Nurse Specialist in 2001. I joined the university as a senior lecturer in 2005.
