Outline of Career

Maxine trained as a nurse in New Zealand before heading to England to undertake her midwifery training. Following qualification, she worked in London for many years in hospital based midwifery services before moving to Guildford. In Guildford she became a high risk antenatal care specialist midwife before becoming a Community Midwife prior to moving into Education full time. Prior to moving to Cambridge in 2003 as a Senior Lecturer, Maxine had worked at the University of Surrey.

In 2009 Maxine qualified as an IBCLC. She works in a multidisciplinary clinic providing breastfeeding support to mothers and babies in Cambridge. In 2010 she undertook further training at Southampton General Hospital to divide tongue ties in babies.

Maxine is currently completing her MSc Advanced Midwifery Studies prior to registering for a PhD. Her research is focusing on fathers within the breastfeeding drop-in clinic.
