Outline of career

Lesley has worked as an academic at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge since January 2009 and was promoted to a Senior Lecturer post in July 2010. In October 2010 she started a PhD at the University of Central Lancashire under the supervision of Professor Soo Downe. Alongside her lecturer role she sits on the NMC Fitness to Practice Panel as member of the 'Conduct and Competence' panel. Prior to working in education she worked as a Midwifery Team Leader in a Community Based team in the Cambridgeshire area. Lesley completed a Master of Studies degree at the University of Cambridge in 2007. She qualified as a midwife in 2000 after completing a direct entry midwifery programme.

Research interest

Lesley is currently undertaking a PhD at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN) under the supervision of Dr Soo Downe.

Project title: A hermeneutic phenomenological study considering how other women's birth stories construct and reconstruct the meaning of birth for primigravida women
