Outline of career

I am a Registered Nurse and have worked in a variety of areas such as General Medicine and Cardiology. I was Ward Manager of a Coronary Care Unit/Ward prior to this post and have been a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer within the University setting for the last seven years.
My specialities include Cardiology and Mentorship and I am currently module leader for the mentorship modules. I have recently been involved in designing the online mentor update.
I have experience of supporting students via distance learning.
I am an External Examiner for two Universities.

Research Interest

I have carried out a number of studies whilst undertaking my studies. The focus of my primary research for my degree was clinical supervision. The focus of my Masters dissertation was mentorship. My research looked at How do adult branch pre-registration nursing students expectations of mentorship comply with the new (2006) NMC standards for mentors? The results of this research study were extremely interesting and have given me the foundation for my PhD.
