Outline of career
Following my training, my career commenced in the operating theatre. I worked in several units both in the National Health Service and private sector. Fundamentally, my roots are grounded with caring for patients within the operating theatre. But, it was whilst I was undertaking a theatre specialist practice programme, that I started being intrigued and fascinated with the whole philosophy and fundamental principles associated with holistic care of the burns, plastics, reconstructive and cosmetic surgery and patient care.My passion drove me beyond the theatre doors and I began working within the acute care setting. Eventually gaining promotion to a clinical nurse specialist. That lead me to my current role as a lecturer practitioner today. Personal circumstances have allowed me to work as a private nurse within the private sector and NHS prevision, coupled with my academic role as a module leader and module tutor with Anglia Ruskin University. Over the past 9 years I continued to review, develop and validate programmes associated with Burns and plastics surgery within the current context of practice needs.
My journey so far has been turbulent at times, but fundamentally I am very proud and privileged to have met and worked with some influential professional within the multidisciplinary team and taught some aspiring nurses within the field.
