Outline of Career
Julia has extensive practical experience spanning a 35 year period in nursing and early years education/childcare related provision. Since 2004 she has been responsible, as Pathway Leader, for the organisation of Sector-endorsed Foundation degree in Early Years, Playwork and Education (face-to-face, blended and online/ distance learning mode), which is delivered at the Chelmsford campus and through Regional Partner Institutions.Whilst working as a member of the mPowerNet team within Anglia Ruskin University, Julia had been involved in the successful negotiation for funding bids, validation, marketing and delivery of two training awards/status being offered to Local Authorities and Early Years agencies: EYPS - Early Years Professional Status (CWDC) and HLTA - Higher Level Teaching Award (DfES). Before joining Anglia Ruskin in 2003 as a Senior Lecture,
Julia had previously been involved in the development and teaching of Early Years and Health related programmes within the South East Essex College, Department of Applied Social Care and The King John 6th Form college.
Research Interests
Member of the interdisciplinary special interest research group; RiCH - Research in Child Health and The Early Childhood Research Group.Currently studying for a Ph.D.(data collection through visualisations, massage and aromatherapy techniques) on the following issue: The effects of incorporating and applying complementary therapies into the intervention strategies employed by a Nurture Group within a Primary School setting.
