Outline of career

Before pursuing a career in research, Jenny trained as a mental health nurse in Edinburgh, later training and working as a social worker. After completing her PhD in 1991 at Edinburgh University's Department of Social Work and Social Policy she worked as a researcher in a number of Scottish academic and practice organisations, latterly as Research Specialist in Mental Health at the Health Education Board for Scotland. In 1997 she took up post as Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Applied Health and Social Policy, King's College London, moving to her current post in 2002.

Research Interest

Jenny's main research interests are in the area of mental health and social inclusion, with a particular focus on employment and participatory arts.
