Outline of Career

Jenny qualified as a Registered General Nurse at the Mater Hospital, Dublin in 1999 where she spent the first two years working in the Operating Theatres gaining experiencing in a wide range of specialties. In 2002/2003 she trained as a theatre nurse at St James's Hospital in Dublin and gained a post graduate diploma in specialist nursing from Trinity College, Dublin.

After training as a First Assistant/Advanced Scrub Practitioner at the Countess of Chester Hospital where she gained a wealth of knowledge and experience, she worked as a scrub nurse and Advanced Scrub Practitioner in many specialities including General/ colo-rectal surgery, vascular surgery, urology, plastics, and Maxillo-Facial surgery.

Research Interest

As part of her MSc in Medical and Healthcare Education, Jenny is currently undertaking a study examining student ODP's perceptions about whether their current education should be at diploma or at degree level.

Jenny has a great interest in teaching, learning and assessing and she hopes to become more involved in this and plan to explore this further in her career.
