Outline of career
Jane Akister is a Reader in Social Work at Anglia Ruskin University and has been researching aspects of supporting parents and protecting children for Parentline, the confidential helpline for parents, for Home-Start and for Community Service Volunteers. These projects have focussed on the parents experiences of services, identifying their concerns as parents and the services that they find useful. Other research interests include family functioning, parent/child attachment and the mental health of looked after children and research in learning and teaching including methods of assessment for social work students.Research Interest
