Outline of Career

Currently Hilary is Pathway Leader for Pre-registration Children's Nursing.

Hilary qualified as a nurse having completed a 4 year combined adult and children's nursing programme at the Hospitals for Sick Children in Great Ormond Street. This training was followed by working in children's nursing clinical practice. Hilary started working in nurse education in the 1980s. Hilary worked in a School of Nursing teaching adult and children's nursing until nurse education moved into Higher Education in the early 1990s. Since working for Anglia Ruskin University, Hilary has held a number of roles related to children's nursing.

Currently Hilary is a module leader and personal tutor/ facilitator and research supervisor and a Link Lecturer.
She also is an internal panel member for University course validations.

Research Interests

Hilary research studies have included projects and dissertations about the training of childrens nurses and the recruitment and selection of nurses. As part of her Masters studies, Hilary explored Inquiry Based Learning and its impact on nursing courses.

In 2010 Hilary contributed to a project on the 'The extent to which schools in the East of England are aware of the Bog Standard campaign and the new standards for toilets in schools'.
