Outline of Career

Geraldine is a principal lecturer in the Department of Education based in the Faculty of Health, Social Care & Education. She has wide experience of both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, learning and project supervision.

Geraldine plays an active role in the Faculty's research. She leads research projects and leads the Doctorate in Education, and is the Faculty Director of Professional Doctorate programmes. She supervises a number of doctoral candidates and is actively involved in the delivery of research training.



Research Interests

Education for Professional Practice in Health, Education and Early Years Settings including Aspects of Leadership and Management, Adult Learning, Problem Based Learning, Bioscience Education in Health Programmes,.use of case study and documentary analysis.

Current research projects
  • Early Years Professional Status: is it making a difference to outcomes for children. An impact study. Project externally funded by Essex County Council (2010 - 2013).

Recent research projects
  • Student views on incorporating sexual health into an undergraduate midwifery curriculum. Internally funded project (2011-2012).
  • Interactive whiteboard training for academics in higher education and the development of pedagogical practice (with C. Such et al). 2010 ? 2011
  • Perinatal mental health needs in North East Essex. Report commissioned by North East Essex PCT, April - August 2009.
