Outline of career

Dr Ali Davod Parsa joined Anglia Ruskin University as Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Health, Social care & Education in 2012. He qualified as a GP from the University of Zajan Medical sciences in 1994, and he was awarded a PG Diploma in Health Services Research (HSR) from the school of Community Health Sciences in 2010, and a PhD from the School of Clinical Sciences in 2011 from the University of Nottingham.

From 1991 to 1994, Ali worked as Research Fellow in the Iranian Academic Centre for Education, Culture & Research (ACECR) (Zanjan University branch) in Iran. As a qualified GP, he worked for several years in both an A&E department and a practice centre in the province of Abadan in Iran.

His success in the field of health management skills was recognised by a series of rapid promotions between 1994 and 2003. His achievements in health management skills and teaching via academic attachment at Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences benefited from his former roles of Deputy Director of Primary Healthcare Authority (1995-1995); Director of Taleghani hospital (1995-1997); Deputy Director of District Health Authority (1997-1999) in Abadan; and advisor for vice-chancellor of the Ahvaz Jundishapur University in pharmaceutical & food safety and health management (1998-9).

In October 1999 he commenced working as Deputy of Director General of the Planning, Programming, Budgeting & Health Economics Department at the Iranian Ministry of Health & Medical Education, with a personal interest in Education and R&D. It resulted in an appointment by the former Deputy Minister of Health in 2000 as the Director General of Planning, Programming, Budgeting & Health Economics Department.

Advisor of former Deputies for Minister of Health & Medical Education (MOHME) in Iran (2002- 2003), Dr Parsa was an active advisor in Management Development & Resources and Medical Education. Dr Parsa is an experienced national level health manager who has exercised health policy making at national strategic level.

His doctoral thesis was titled: 'Health Economics in Cardiovascular Medicine; Studies comparing healthcare practice in the United Kingdom and Iran (2011)' and 'Prospective study in aetiology of neonatal jaundice in the Paediatrics Department, Beheshti teaching hospital, Zanjan medical university, Iran (1994)'.

In 2010 Ali worked as Lecturer in Health Management and taught postgraduate level modules - 'Health and Social Care' and 'Law and Ethics in Health and Social Care' - in Birmingham.

Dr Parsa is a clinician with vast experience in Public Health, Health Policy and Health Economics.
