Education
In the Department of Education we firmly believe that learning does not only happen in a classroom or between the ages of five and eighteen!
With this in mind we offer a range of innovative undergraduate and postgraduate courses to meet the interests and needs of people who wish to study and work in a wide range of educational contexts. Our courses have been designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills and experience to engage confidently and competently in education-related environments.
We are the largest provider of teacher education in the East of England and have been training teachers and working in partnership with schools and colleges for over four decades. We also offer postgraduate CPD courses for teachers, delivered in schools, colleges and at the university. All our courses provide a forward looking approach to current issues in education, and the opportunity to develop as an effective practitioner.
Our programmes in Education and Childhood Studies consider the social and cultural aspects of education. You will explore the diverse experiences of learning from the earliest days of an individual's life, in early childhood settings, compulsory schooling, into adulthood and old age. Given the powerful impact that an individual's experience of education has on their life, this is a fascinating and challenging area of study.
We are committed to high standards of scholarship and research to offer our students opportunities to be taught by, and undertake research with, scholars who are at the forefront of developments in their disciplines. We pride ourselves on our commitment to developing students' professional and research skills that are relevant and transferable across all sectors of the educational community. For further information please visit our research webpage.
We run courses at our campuses in Cambridge, Chelmsford, and Peterborough as well as in Colleges of Further Education across the East of England. We have an enthusiastic and well-qualified team of tutors and support staff who are dedicated to helping you succeed in your studies. We hope you will join us in the next exciting stage in your life!
