Osteopathy

Anglia Ruskin University works in partnership with the London School of Osteopathy. The MOst and BOst Hons Osteopathy courses delivered at the The London School of Osteopathy are validated by our university.

Osteopathy offers an exciting opportunity for mature students to change career, and become fully registered autonomous practising osteopaths. The London School of Osteopathy delivers the following Anglia Ruskin University validated programs:

  • a part-time pathway for both the Bachelors and Masters programs
  • a full-time pathway for both the Bachelors and Masters programs

Study for the part-time program takes place over 18 teaching weekends, from September to June. The part-time attendance pattern allows students to continue working full-time during the first 3 years of the course and, because of clinical attendance, part-time in the final years. The part-time program is especially designed for mature students who wish to change career. The full-time program is over four years and follows a normal university time-table.

The large outpatient clinic, which is at the heart of student learning, is open 6 days a week. Attendance patterns are very flexible, with students being involved in clinical activities right from the first year.

While all prospective students need to be independently minded, highly motivated self-directed learners in order to succeed, this particularly applies to those who are in employment. Curiosity, empathy and ethical behavior are also positive attributes in those seeking to join and contribute to the expansion of the osteopathic profession. Whichever course they follow, students will come to learn not just about the theory and practice of osteopathy, but also about themselves, as they learn to adapt and move into their new career.

Osteopathy is an exciting career where you will be able to utilise a variety of therapeutic approaches and interventions in meeting the needs of patients. It is a challenging field which requires its practitioners to commit to lifelong learning in order to ensure continual professional development and to maintain standards of care.
